1. Who We Are

risertools is operated by Vladimir Cepeda, a sole proprietor based in the State of Florida (“risertools,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). risertools publishes a free calculator catalog for ICT integrators, low-voltage contractors, and infrastructure professionals.

2. Scope of This Policy

This policy describes how risertools collects, uses, stores, and shares personal information when you visit risertools.com, create an account, use our calculators, or subscribe to our newsletter. It applies to all users regardless of location.

This policy is drafted with GDPR principles in mind but does not assert full GDPR compliance. If risertools’ EU/UK traffic grows to exceed approximately 5% of total audience, risertools will revisit this policy and execute Data Processing Agreements with each processor as appropriate.

3. Data We Collect and How We Collect It

3.1 Account and Authentication Data (Clerk)

When you create an account or sign in, we process:

• Email address — collected by Clerk during sign-up and synced to our Cloudflare D1 database via a secure webhook.
• OAuth provider identifier — if you sign in via Google OAuth or Microsoft OAuth, Clerk receives a provider-issued user identifier. We request only minimum OAuth scopes: your name and email address. We do not request access to your Google Drive, Google Calendar, Microsoft OneDrive, or any workspace data.
• Sign-in method — which method you used (Google OAuth, Microsoft OAuth, or email magic link), stored to support account security and product analytics.
• Session token — a Clerk-issued JWT stored in an HttpOnly cookie, used to authenticate your requests.

We do not collect or store passwords. All authentication is handled by Clerk. See Clerk’s privacy policy at https://clerk.com/legal/privacy.

3.2 Saved Calculator Results (Cloudflare D1)

If you are signed in and choose to save a calculator result, we store:

• Calculator inputs and outputs as a JSON snapshot — the values you entered and the result produced.
• Calculator identifier — which calculator produced the result.
• User-provided label — if you name the saved result (optional).
• Timestamp — when the result was saved.

Saving is always opt-in. You can delete any or all saved results at any time from your /account/saved/ page or by requesting account deletion.

3.3 Account Preferences (Cloudflare D1)

If you are signed in, we store:

• Preferred persona tier — your default calculator view preference (e.g., “pro” or “simple”), set in account preferences.
• Newsletter subscription status — whether you have subscribed to the risertools newsletter.

3.4 Newsletter Subscription Data (Resend)

If you subscribe to the risertools newsletter:

• Email address — collected at the point of subscription and confirmed via double opt-in before any newsletters are sent.
• Subscription source — which calculator page or site location you subscribed from, stored to understand content relevance.
• Confirmation and unsubscribe timestamps — recorded for compliance and audit purposes.
• Resend contact ID — an identifier assigned by Resend when your contact is added to our Resend Audience list.

We use a double opt-in process: you must click a confirmation link in a verification email before we add you to any broadcast list. You can unsubscribe at any time using the unsubscribe link included in every email we send.

3.5 Advertising Data (Google AdSense)

risertools displays advertisements served by Google AdSense. When AdSense ads load on a page, Google may:

• Set advertising cookies on your device (see our Cookies Policy for the specific cookies involved).
• Collect data about your browsing behavior to serve interest-based advertisements.
• Use data across Google’s advertising network consistent with Google’s own privacy policies.

risertools does not control the data Google collects for AdSense purposes. For information about Google’s data practices and how to manage your Google ad settings, see Google’s Privacy Policy and Google’s Ad Settings.

3.6 Site Analytics (Cloudflare Web Analytics)

risertools uses Cloudflare Web Analytics to understand site traffic. Cloudflare Web Analytics is cookieless by design — it does not set cookies and does not track individual users across sessions or sites. The data collected consists of aggregate pageview metadata (page URL, referrer, general geographic region, browser type) and does not constitute personal data as defined under most privacy frameworks.

4. How We Use Your Data

EU / UK / EEA users: For visitors from the European Union, United Kingdom, or European Economic Area, risertools does not load Google AdSense advertising and does not set AdSense cookies until the user has provided affirmative consent through a cookie consent banner. This is implemented via geographic detection at the network edge. As a result, “legitimate interest” is not relied upon as the legal basis for AdSense behavioral advertising for EU/UK/EEA users — explicit consent is.

We do not sell your personal data. We share data only with the following service providers who process it on our behalf to deliver risertools:

Regardless of where you are located, you may exercise the following rights by contacting us at the email address in Section 1:

• Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
• Correction: Request that we correct inaccurate data.
• Deletion: Request deletion of your personal data. You can also delete your account directly at /account/ (this removes all saved results and account data from our D1 database). For newsletter subscriptions, use the unsubscribe link in any email or contact us directly.
• Export / Portability: Request a machine-readable export of your saved calculator results and account data.
• Opt-out of advertising: You may opt out of interest-based advertising by Google via Google’s Ad Settings or by managing cookies in your browser (see our Cookies Policy).
• Newsletter unsubscribe: Every newsletter email includes a working unsubscribe link. Clicking it immediately removes you from future broadcasts.

California residents (CCPA/CPRA): You have the right to know what personal information we collect, the right to delete, the right to opt-out of the sale or sharing of personal information (we do not sell personal information), and the right to non-discrimination for exercising these rights. Submit requests to the contact email in Section 1.

risertools is currently below the CCPA/CPRA “business” thresholds (25,000+ California consumers or $25M+ annual revenue) and is not subject to the formal CCPA/CPRA business obligations. The disclosure above is provided as good practice regardless. If risertools’ user base subsequently crosses the threshold, this policy will be updated to reflect the full set of CCPA/CPRA business obligations.

We will respond to verifiable requests within 30 days (or the applicable period under applicable law).

8. Children

risertools is designed for ICT integrators, contractors, and trades professionals. We do not knowingly collect personal data from individuals under the age of 16. If you believe a person under 16 has submitted personal data to risertools, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

9. International Data Transfers

risertools infrastructure is located in the United States:

• Cloudflare D1 database: Cloudflare’s US-East region.
• Resend email platform: AWS us-east-1.
• Clerk authentication: data is processed in the United States on Google Cloud Platform infrastructure. Clerk is certified under the EU-U.S. and Swiss-U.S. Data Privacy Frameworks (see https://clerk.com/legal/dpf). Current subprocessor list at https://clerk.com/legal/subprocessors.

If you access risertools from outside the United States, your data may be transferred to and processed in the United States. We have designed our practices with applicable data protection principles in mind, but we do not assert that these transfers are covered by a specific adequacy decision or Standard Contractual Clauses at this time.

If EU/UK traffic becomes significant, risertools will execute Data Processing Agreements (DPAs) with Clerk, Resend, and Cloudflare, and update this section to reference those Standard Contractual Clauses or other transfer mechanisms.

10. Security

We take reasonable measures to protect your data, including:

• Authentication via Clerk with HttpOnly cookies and PKCE for OAuth flows.
• All data transmitted over HTTPS (enforced by Cloudflare).
• All D1 database queries use prepared statements to prevent injection.
• API keys and secrets stored in Cloudflare Pages environment secrets — never in source code.

No data transmission or storage is guaranteed to be 100% secure. In the event of a data breach affecting your personal data, we will notify you as required by applicable law.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the “Last Updated” date at the top of this page. For material changes, we will notify registered users by email (to the address associated with your account) or by a prominent notice on the site. Your continued use of risertools after a change becomes effective constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.

risertools does not currently target EU individuals (Google AdSense is disabled for EU/UK/EEA users until a compliant consent mechanism is implemented — see §4). If risertools’ user base becomes substantively EU-facing, an EU representative will be appointed per GDPR Article 27 and their contact information added to this section.
